The Weepies “You Can’t Go Back Now” - they always say it so simply and so well.

The 2009 Year End Single” from Take Gantt(the best family cover band of Gantt’s and a bunch of their musician friends)
Our usual lead singer and fearless ad-libber, Jonathan, moved to Florida so we had to soldier on without him. This song was dedicated to him(the band wants him to come home). It’s another instance where you can’t fix what’s not broken so our recording is just us having a lot of fun playing a great song.

beautiful winter song, “Blue Northern Lights” by Ollabelle.
For added effect, put some headphones on, turn em up, and let this one crawl its way into your dome.
Took this picture in Utah while passing through there this fall.

the snow’s been coming down all evening. loving. it.
(took this two weeks ago, when it was snowing here… still applies. and a picture into the pitch black would be slightly less awesome.)
1 month agoThe one thing which we seek with insatiable desire is to forget ourselves, to be surprised out of our propriety, to lose our sempiternal memory, and to do something without knowing how or why; in short, to draw a new circle.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm. The way of life is wonderful; it is by abandonment.
“The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don’t go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill
where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don’t go back to sleep.”
“Among the Sierra Nevada, California” - Albert Bierstadt
A copy of this painting is hanging on the ceiling of my bed in my parents’ house. It’s been here since I was a about 12 and bought a poster of it at the National Gallery on a field trip. Now back at home again, sleeping in my old bed… there it is! I think that’s the wooshing sound of time flying by that I hear.
Brought to you by Bierstadt and thumbtacks.

I remember listening to this when I was 8 years old, and not even understanding how it made me feel. This song Ashokan Farewell got me started playing violin, which led me to guitar and songwriting, which are leading me still. And that is some letter.
With so many forces in the world closing us to the possibility of something bigger than our measured lives, it wholly floors me to hear this and feel that boundless possibility for a human to love so fully. Even knowing how deeply I want that makes me feel more alive.
It’s late, and I’m semi-lucid, but I swear I’ll mean this tomorrow.

the pigeons in puerto rico were so much healthier than New York birds. Wonder if the same goes for people
